Full Job Description

As a Senior Ophthalmic Technician you will provide safe, effective and quality care to a defined group of service users reporting to and under the indirect supervision of registered practitioners in line with agreed standards, guidelines and governance.
At Kings, emphasis is put on the need to ensure that all staff recognise their responsibility to deliver services in a high quality, courteous, patient focused manner maintaining patient confidentiality at all times and work and behave in line with the Trust values and ensure the safety and wellbeing of service users
This role involves independent and team working to provide an ophthalmic diagnostic service for patients attending ophthalmic speciality clinics, procedures and a technician delivered pathway utilising advanced secondary care ophthalmic diagnostic skills and knowledge. The post holder will also oversee patient flow and lead with staff development by providing training, feedback and competency assessment with other member of the multi professional team., + Make safe and effective use of a range of a range of complex diagnostic instruments adhering to defined protocols and guideline to provide advanced diagnostic skillset for a multi-professional team or a technician delivered pathway
+ Develop a community of practice for the technician workforce
+ Lead and work with key members of the team to deliver ophthalmic technician training and competency attainment
+ Liaise effectively with all stakeholders aspiring to provide and effective, seamless and integrated service to patients

Working in secondary care as an Ophthalmic Technician demonstrating experience, skillset and knowledge
Teaching and assessing experience in speciality area
