Werelooking for an ambitious individual, who will be part of our PaediatricAudiology team taking the next steps indeveloping great community services and ensuring that everything we do is basedaround our aim of quality first and foremost. Thisjob is an excellent opportunity for an audiologist with an interest inPaediatrics wanting to gain more knowledge and progress to a senior Paediatricposition. The service is being delivered from dedicated and purpose-builtPaediatric audiology suites in Warrington. Theapplicant must have good knowledge of Paediatric Audiology Hearing Assessments.Experience must have been obtained from working within the NHS. The applicantis expected to be progressing within their career and aspiring to increasetheir skills and expertise in the field. Thesuccessful candidate will have a BSc and / or MSc in Audiology (or equivalent)and will have RCCP registration with relevant post qualification experience. The work is community based thereforeit is essential that the successful candidate is able to travel between our 2sites to meet the requirements of the role. Main duties of the job Job Purpose Tobe a member of a multidisciplinary team providing a comprehensive andintegrated community Paediatric Audiology service for babies, children, andyoung adults. Todevelop paediatric audiology skills progressing from a band 5 paediatricaudiologist to a band 6 senior paediatric audiologist on achievement ofcompetencies Work both as a team and autonomouslyto manage own clinics and individual workload. Complete specialist work whichincludes : comprehensive testing and diagnosticassessments of hearing in-depth knowledge of paediatrictest protocols, and assessment techniques. manage hearing loss in infants andchildren carry out basic hearing aidmaintenance including retubing / impressions, To be amember of a Multidisciplinary Team providing a comprehensive and integratedCommunity Service of Paediatric Audiology for babies, children and youngadults. As part of an audiology team, carry outdaily clinical work, managing own clinics and individual workload. Complete specialist work which includescomprehensive testing and diagnostic assessments of hearing, in-depth knowledgeof paediatric test protocols, and assessment techniques. Be responsible for the supervision and trainingof undergraduate and post graduate students on audiology courses. Duties and Responsibilities : Perform diagnosticassessment of the hearing of children and analyse the results. Perform pure toneaudiometry, using air conduction and bone conduction. Test pre-schoolchildren via; Distraction testing. Visual re-enforcement, audiometry -VRA,Performance testing, Manchester picture testing, Speech testing, Testing ofmiddle ear function using tympanometry, OAE's Complete audiologicaltesting of babies that are referred following their Newborn hearing screen,using Otoacoustic emissions -OAEs to detect cochlear function. Carry out Otoscopyfollowing BSA recommended procedures. Be able to identify normal and abnormalears. Identifies any contraindications for any further procedures tympanometry and impressions. To arrange and advisereferral to other professionals for treatment and management when required referral to ENT nurse or GP for treatment of an infection. Take accurate and safeimpressions of the ear following BSA recommended procedures for impressiontaking. Perform Otoscopy to identify any contra indications. Carry out routinemaintenance and calibration checks on audiological equipment, reporting faultsand arranging for repair when necessary. Works as an independentpractitioner when carrying out hearing tests in clinic. Maintains accuraterecording of results and updates patient records. Write reports to alliedhearing professionals when required. Performs correct andvalid use of diagnostic and assessment equipment and specialised audiologicalcomputer software. Updates national S4H database with results of hearing testsfollowing referral from neonatal hearing screening team. Communication Tocommunicate effectively and courteously with patients, colleagues, public andmembers of the Directorate and Trust Maintaindepartmental records, including provision of patient reports as necessary. Towork and communicate effectively within the multi-disciplinary Audiology team Ability to explain tochildren what they are required to do when performing hearing tests, usingappropriate language. Able to use tact and persuasion where barriers to understanding exist, very young children, children with learning difficulties and theun-cooperative child. Communicate effectivelywith deaf and hard of hearing, carers and children of all ages. Able tocommunicate complex technical information in a meaningful manner. Adaptinginstructions and tests to children of different ages and special needs. Demonstratesreassurance and persuasive skills to gain a child's confidence for invasiveprocedures , impressions. Demonstratessensitivity and awareness when imparting bad news sudden hearing loss or deteriorationof existing hearing loss. Professional Active participant inTrust research projects involving children with hearing loss. Maintains strictconfidentiality at all times. Maintains professionalstandards and protocols without supervision. Works in accordancewith the Health and Safety at Work Act and complies with Trust policies andaudiological protocols. Ensures continuingprofessional development. Develops andmaintains in depth knowledge of paediatric test protocols, is well informedabout changes to current practice and able to implement new recommendedprocedures following appropriate training. To maintainregistration with the RCCP Takes part in bothprofessional and departmental meetings. Information and Data Responsibilities To maintain thoroughdata and record-keeping of patient sessions.Ensure appropriate archiving of data onto computer record systems. Maintain systems tomonitor documentation including recording and storing all relevant informationensuring it is securely held and can be accessed easily. Training Carries out trainingand supervision of degree students. Assesses student's clinical competenciesboth practically and verbally and signs off achieved targets. Designs learningtargets for and with the student to help them to fulfil their learning objectives Complete tutorialsessions with the students. Responsible formaintaining own workload, prioritising referrals and planning work for juniorstaff. Plans day to day duties and routine clinics. Ensures reviews and follow up appointmentsare booked within recommended time periods Demonstratesflexibility to meet the needs of special needs children, and interchange testprocedures based on the needs of the child Demonstratesflexibility to complete urgent referrals and provide hearing aidreplacement / repairs on a non- appointment basis. Organises testing inoutreach clinics and schools, ensuring all necessary portable equipment isavailable. Collaborates withClinical Lead and Clinical Manager to ensure an efficient and effectiveAudiology department. Monitors stock andliaises with team if replacements needed. - BSc Audiology, MSc Audiology or equivalent BTEC in MPPM, BAAT Parts 1 and 2 and HNC MPPM

- The ability to travel independently across the Trust
