The role requires excellent news judgment, time management, communication, the ability to make quick decisions, the skill of crafting sharp headlines, a keen eye for pictures and detail, and a track record of delivering high quality newspaper pages to daily deadlines. Key responsibilities

  • Take digital headlines and rework where appropriate into brilliant print sells.
  • Repurpose copy for print, such as by combining digital stories into a newspaper wrap where necessary, or knowing when to write a drop intro on to a straight news story.

  • Ability to work efficiently, make best use of resources and collaborate with colleagues.
  • A proven record for accuracy and attention to detail; imagination in writing headlines and in the display of pages; an excellent understanding of what makes a good picture, a superior understanding of language and its correct usage.
  • An understanding of how multimedia digital stories and images can be translated into engaging articles in print.
  • Effective communication and collaborative skills.
  • Experience working with Adobe InDesign.
