Full Job Description

At Britton and Time, our paralegals are not just support staff; they are the heartbeat of our legal excellence. Our senior paralegal will be assisting our Private Client team drafting Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection applications. You will also work alongside our director on probate cases and trust matters, and you will be empowered to drive these matters forward and ensure all deadlines are met.

This is the perfect opportunity for an experienced paralegal looking to advance your career in Private Client within a supportive and forward-thinking environment. As a senior paralegal, you work closely with the director to help develop the junior members of the team and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our services.

Your journey with us may also offer exposure with various other legal departments to include Civil Litigation, Criminal, Employment, Family and Property Litigation. We offer an unmatched opportunity to collaborate with our knowledgeable directors and solicitors in our prestigious Mayfair and Hove offices in the Southeast. This role will be based in Hove, Sussex.

As a senior paralegal at Britton and Time, your responsibilities will include preparing and administering legal documents, managing client files, and handling confidential information with GDPR precision. But that's not all - you'll be a key player in our networking events, contributing to internal process enhancements, and embarking on new legal research projects.

You'll be thinking on your feet, facilitating meetings, setting up meeting rooms, note-taking, and providing timely reminders. Juggling multiple cases across various departments, solicitors, and tight deadlines will be your daily challenge - but with challenge comes growth.

We offer an invaluable and hands-on experience for paralegals to include initial consultations, court proceedings and client meetings. Our firm generously offer training contracts to our paralegals who showcase excellence and commitment. So, if you're ready to bring your A-game, your future could start here! Alternatively, if you're looking to continue your period of qualifying work experience and specialise in Private Client - this opportunity could be for you!

Other specialist paralegal or legal secretary qualifications are desirable such as a National Association of Licensed Paralegals (NALP) practice award, certificate, or diploma. You will have knowledge of the relevant reliefs and tax bands, particularly concerning IHT and CGT.

You will have a high degree of mental agility and possess the ability to navigate seamlessly through various legal topics, juggling cases, competing deadlines, and solicitors with finesse. You are expected to be a confident and collaborative communicator, facilitating the effective dissemination of information to the wider team. A high level of proficiency in English, both verbally and in writing, is essential.
