Full Job Description

We're looking for a Senior Patient Access Officer to join our Patient Access team based in Elstree Waterfront Outpatients Centre . As a Senior Patient Access Officer, you will assist the Patient Access Leader in the management and progressive development of a high quality and customer responsive services offered by the Patient Access Department. As a Senior PAO, you will be responsible for providing hands on supervision for the day-to-day operational aspects of all functions within the team, to effectively communicate with appropriate instruction and guidance to colleagues at all times to ensure that the service delivered is always of an exemplary standard and meets with the expectations. What you'll do:

  • Ensure that all administrative functions are carried out to the highest standard
  • Ensure teams are equipped to carry out all tasks and ensure adequate supplies are maintained
  • To ensure that all patients meet the HCA criteria to enable successful and full financial settlement, whether Sponsored or Self-funded.
  • Seek assistance from Patient Access Manager (PAM)/Patient Access Leaders (PAL) with any complex queries.
  • Manage patient waiting areas to ensure the Patient Access Service run smoothly
  • Support PAL to organise staffing to ensure no gaps in service (Rota management)
  • Takes on supervisory tasks within their team as required
  • Assist Patient Access Officers with more complex tasks
  • Deputise for the PAL as required.

    Previous experience in a similar role is essential
  • Previous supervisory experience in a similar role is essential
  • Excellent Numeracy and Communication skills
  • IT Literate
  • Understanding of basic medical terminology
