Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity to join our expanding Aseptic Oncology Pharmacy Team

You will be part of a close, dedicated team working with Pharmacy and Nursing Staff in an essential role to help minimise waste and improve medicines efficacy with our high cost cancer drugs.

Your role within the team will be to support the pharmacy team in correctly booking out and charging for high cost drugs, liaising with pharmacy and nursing staff to process and return delayed drugs and ensuring they are re-used in a safe and cost-effective way, and assist in stock control.

You will be supported in all training by our expert pharmacy team based at Tunbridge Wells Hospital, 1. Assist in the booking out and costing of IV SACT to ensure correct and timely charging of treatment provided at MTW NHS Trust, in liaison with the Oncology Pharmacy High Cost Drugs Team.

2. Processing any delayed or cancelled IV SACT treatment and ensuring it is re-used safely, appropriately and cost effectively.

3. Liaise daily with the day wards and Maidstone Oncology Pharmacy Team to ensure prompt return of unused IV SACT treatment and processing the treatments ensuring it is re-used appropriately.

4. Assist in managing the 'spare' and 'allocated' IV SACT treatments and to ensure drugs are allocated correctly to patients and re-allocated to prevent wastage.

5. Liaise with the Pharmacy Technical Team to ensure spares and allocated IV SACT treatments are re-used appropriately, at time of ordering outsourced products

Computer literacy would be an advantage, especially in MS office applications. You will be trained to use our Pharmacy computer system and other databases that we use.

This role requires all team members to be accurate, numerate, highly organised, and possess good communication skills. Ideally you should already have some pharmacy experience, but this is not essential.
