Full Job Description
+ To support the Pharmacy Procurement and Governance and Safety Teams to maintain the supply chain of medicines by identifying and communicating medicines shortages to the relevant Senior Pharmacists.
+ Obtain and provide information regarding medicines usage for the trust where a supply issue or medicines shortage has been identified.
+ Work with collaboratively to identify potential alternatives to medicines shortages and support communication regarding the alternatives as requested by the appropriate senior Pharmacist.

Please note that interviews are proposed for week commencing 13th January 2025., 1. Using all available sources available - proactively identify current or anticipated medicines shortages
2. Utilise the Pharmacy Computer System to identify any outstanding orders identifying why each item on the order is outstanding
3. Resolve goods receipt queries that have led to an order remaining outstanding on the pharmacy System
4. Liaise with suppliers and wholesalers to obtain information on the availability of medicines
5. Record information relating to medicines shortages on the relevant databases
6. Communicate any medicines shortages to the relevant Senior Pharmacists and wider pharmacy team
7. Investigate the availability of licensed or unlicensed alternatives during stock shortages and provide this information to the relevant senior pharmacist allowing them to make a decision with regards to their suitability for purchase, + Follow the process for the procurement of new licensed and unlicensed medicines to procure and receive new medicines
+ Manage the off contract claims process - recording all stock shortages for both contract and non contract lines claiming back the difference in cost from contracted suppliers in the case on stock shortages with contract items
+ Record all cost savings achieved from the off contract claim process
+ Support Administrative Officer - Pharmacy Procurement to send approved orders via the Pharmacy Electronic Data Interchange Software (EDI) or email
+ Process routine electronic and manual invoices using the EDI Software and the Pharmacy Stock Control System
+ To answer the telephone in a friendly and efficient manner with referral to other pharmacy staff as appropriate
+ Deal with incoming post, filing and photocopying requests
+ Provide flexible administrative and clerical cover as required across the department.
