Full Job Description

Sheffield Children's Hospital is a specialist paediatric centre. The Pharmacy department provides a progressive pharmacy service to a variety of patients throughout the region, making it a highly rewarding working environment.,

  • Prepare and in process check a range of aseptic products including:- CIVAS, PN, Cytotoxics and ATMP's (Clinical trials)

  • Assembly of trays for manufacture

  • Process checking of trays for manufacture

  • Writing of worksheets

  • Labelling of worksheets

  • Checking of worksheets

  • Accurate costing and checking of all materials and consumables used

  • Participate in quality management activities

  • Support the senior technicians in the day to day running of the unit

  • Training of staff

  • Managing the day to day operations within the aseptic unit

  • Writing of procedures

  • Investigating deviations

    Thanks to a successful bid for additional funding, we have an excellent opportunity within our friendly department for an enthusiastic Senior Pharmacy Technician to join the aseptics team at an exciting time as we continue to develop our aseptic service, having now moved into our new facility.


  • This post will include working with advanced therapeutic medicinal products and new and emerging therapies and clinical trials.

    The role will involve the day to day running of the aseptic unit. This will include the preparation and the in-process checking of a range of aseptic products. Cleaning of all isolators and laminar air flow cabinets is required along with general housekeeping in accordance with agreed procedures and frequency. Good knowledge of quality management and GMP is essential. Experience of training staff is desirable.

    You must be fully registered with the GPHC as a pharmacy technician and have experience of working in aseptic services.

    You will be required to participate in the weekend and bank holiday rota.
