Full Job Description
The post holder will work within a range of clearly defined occupational policies and:
· Ensure a safe, evidence based and cost - effective medicines management service is provided by Prescribing Support Technicians to areas within Cardiff & Vale University Health Board area (CAVUHB).
· Support multi-disciplinary working and the development of Medicines Management Services.
· Develop, implement, and monitor standards for Medicines Management Services delivered by Prescribing Support Technicians within CAVUHB.
· Lead the delivery of the Cost Reduction Plans for primary care medicines.
· Support the quality and safety requirements in relation to Medicines Management across the locality.
· Act as a role model and lead the training and development for Prescribing Support Technicians., · Responsible for development, motivation and management of Prescribing Support (Pharmacy) Technicians.
Medicines Management Services
· Support Prescribing Advisors to provide Medicines Management Services & prescribing support in Primary Care.
· Oversee the provision of Prescribing Support Technician Medicines Management Services., · Provide, organise and plan (with support) Medicines Management training for Prescribing Support Technicians.
· Participate in induction of new prescribing team staff and short-term placements for trainees e.g. pre-registration and diploma pharmacists.
· Promote medicines management and patient safety, including patient participation groups and forums, care homes, such as public health campaigns
Communication
· Communicate effectively with Practice staff and patients in relation to our workplans, by letter, telephone or by face to face consultation.
· Undertake therapeutic switches from clinical records for groups of patients agreed by the practice.
· Monitors performance against the clinical board prescribing cost reduction plans.
Physical Skills
· Ability to use GP prescribing systems
· Use prescribing information systems such as CASPA, SPIRA and Prescribing services to produce graphs and reports, Applicants are invited to apply in Welsh. Any application submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application made in English.
