In this role, you'll lead the development of a portfolio of Major Gift prospects and projects for the aligned Faculty (Science, Engineering, and Medicine), and hold line management responsibility for Philanthropy Officer(s), as required, who will support Development Office led philanthropic priorities. In this role you'll be hybrid working within a hot-desking space within the Development and Alumni Engagement team on campus. We're looking for a motivated individual who will be responsible for raising funds in a team of Major and Leadership Gift fundraisers. They'll need to provide leadership and mentoring for individual team members, as well as managing a portfolio of prospects of their own. We're looking for an excellent communicator to join our growing Philanthropy team with the support of the Development and Alumni Engagement Team you'll be responsible for delivering a minimum income target of £500,000 and maximising use of this resource. Travel is a central part of this role. We are seeking someone able to travel internationally anywhere between one to ten times annually. Although we do predict travel, we are unable to guarantee these opportunities. Previous Experience
- Be able to demonstrate experience of building and maintaining constructive professional relationships with a wide range of people over an extended period of time.
- Demonstrate where you have worked collaboratively to achieve a goal, project or contract success.
- Experience of working in a target driven environment.
- Experience of managing a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals/trusts/ or corporate accounts.
- Experience of leading, mentoring and coaching a team.
- Comfortable working within a metrics-driven culture.
- Experience working across a complex stakeholder environment.
- Background in working with senior volunteer leaders and recruiting influencers. Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge and experience of team management and developing a team culture.
- Knowledge of the functions and best practices of Development teams.
- Knowledge of the principles of Major and Leadership Gifts fundraising, and Donor Relations.
- Experience of working within a high performing fundraising team.
- A good problem solver with the ability to work laterally to resolve fundraising challenges across departments. Demonstrates self-awareness and understands how to bring others with them in order to overcome a collective challenge.
- Demonstrates professionalism and has experience in helping others to develop it.
- Working knowledge of GDPR, and Fundraising Regulator code of practice.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work constructively and effectively with senior staff.
- A high level of written and oral communication skills and confident in presenting.
