Full Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Photographer to join the Web team at our Head Office. As part of the studio team, you will assist with the photography of RiverIsland's repertoire of products. You will have the opportunity to be involved in innovative and eye catching photography and thereby constantly improving the shopping experience at riverisland.com., We are looking for a talented individual who is interested in expanding their experience and developing on their existing product photography skills. You must have previous experience in fashion photography within a studio/catalogue/still life type of environment.
Key priorities of the position include:

  • Take digital images of products styled on models using Capture Pro and follow photographic guidelines focusing on lighting and final image quality

  • Deliver concepts from Art Director and achieve lighting to the highest standard for WW and MW recognisable shoots.

  • Shoot WW packs, MW brand shoots

  • Confidence to try new ideas

  • Constantly suggesting areas for improvement, testing and helping implantation

  • Deliver all online product imagery that accurately depicts clothing and is shoot in an inspirational forward thinking style whilst following River Island's in-house standards

  • Work with Stylist and model on-set to co-direct and select best poses

  • Continuously evaluate model poses, product representation and retail landscape to ensure River Island is the leader of online photography

  • Strong knowledge of other brands, websites and latest shoot trends

  • Ensure no more than 1% of your images are reshot per week, with 100% accurate product representation

  • Communicate workflow status and concerns to the Stylist in order to ensure all priority product is shot to deadlines

  • Manage your day effectively and report any rollover products to Styling Manager and Studio Manager

  • Ensure product care and that all items are retagged by Assistants after use and returned to fashion cupboard in an orderly and timely manner

  • Prepare sets, ensuring all equipment is functioning, set up lighting, take metre readings and keep records

  • Upload Digital Images

  • Name and maintain digital asset file/structure organisation

  • Perform quality assurance on all images

  • Select final images with Stylist

  • Crop digital photographic images

  • Ensure colour consistency between image assets

  • Write detailed retouch notes on images

  • Upload assets to servers in accordance with guidelines

  • Accurately archive images so that they are easily accessible

  • Meet daily deadlines to prepare for new website material

  • Assist in the upkeep of all studio equipment, props and supplies and organise repairs

  • Take digital images of products styled on mannequins and still life when required

  • Train and Mentor Photography team members

  • Support with ad hoc duties as and when required

    Degree in photography and/or minimum 3+ years previous experience in a studio environment/catalogue environment

  • A strong photography portfolio that demonstrates sufficient knowledge and techniques of digital photography and lighting.

  • Proven experience with digital cameras and lighting.

  • Highest technical proficiency in PhotoShop (Mac), Capture Pro and networked computers

  • Good understanding of colour correction and image constraints

  • Ability to work well within a team

  • Ability to work under extreme pressure to meet creative deadlines

  • Ability to communicate clearly, accurately and confidently and build strong relationships both internally and externally
