Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Senior Neuro Physiotherapist to join our Neuro Early Supported Discharge Team! The Neuro ESD Team is a Multidisciplinary team providing specialist intensive rehabilitation to clients with Acute Stroke and other Neurological conditions on discharge from hospital or as community admission avoidance. The post holder will be working alongside a team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Nurses, Clinical Neuropsychologist and Rehabilitation Assistants, working the Southampton and West Hampshire areas. You will receive profession specific and CPD support from Band 7/8 Physiotherapists within the service and will be required to regularly supervise Rehabilitation Assistants and Physiotherapy students. Previous training organised by Solent Neuro Rehab Service has included study days on pilates in Neuro Rehab, Evidenced Based Upper Limb Rehabilitation and Vestibular Rehabilitation. You should have post graduate experience which should include some specific neurological clinical experience and relevant CPD, as well as evidence of working within a multidisciplinary team. Experience of service improvement projects or audits is also desirable. This is a community post and therefore access to a car for community visits is essential., Work as part of multi-professional team within relevant department

  • Work in close collaboration with other relevant services/agencies e.g. acute rehabilitation units, community rehab teams, virtual wards, urgent response etc.
  • Manage caseload of clients within the community and oversee caseload for rehabilitation assistants.
  • Undertake assessment and treatment of clients within a community, inpatient or outpatient setting who have potentially complex presentation requiring specialist skills and determine profession specific and multidisciplinary rehabilitation interventions.
  • Plan and implement comprehensive programmes of intervention for clients who require intensive rehabilitation in the community, inpatient or outpatient setting.
  • To attend weekly team meeting, scheduling work for self and other team members, providing specialist advise to team members and external agencies.
  • Carry out profession specific and general multidisciplinary rehabilitation procedures, many of which will require specialist skills and knowledge.
  • Supervise junior members of staff, rehabilitation assistants and students on clinical placement.
  • Participate in and maintain own clinical professional development (CPD) by keeping abreast of any new developments e.g., active involvement in professional special interest groups and taking responsibility to incorporate into practice.
  • To actively contribute to team developments on a routine basis.

    £37,338 to £44,962 a year Please note for part time hours the salary will be pro rata.
