Senior Physiotherapist - Pain Management

Are you fascinated by the amazing science of pain and motivated to help clients make sense of their own persistent pain? Do you enjoy supporting individuals to build upon their skills to successfully self-manage their pain and to achieve their personal goals? Would you like to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills within the field of Pain Management?

You will be supported by and work closely with an interdisciplinary team of dedicated and expert pain specialists including physiotherapists, psychologists, pharmacist, occupational therapists, pain consultants, osteopath, therapy assistant and nurses. The pain team integrates with our Rheumatology, MSK and CFS/ME services and you will benefit from shared learning opportunities.

We are based at Minerva Centre (PNE FC stadium) innovatively moving pain management into the heart of the community we serve. We provide a service to the Central Lancashire area. We run clinics at a variety of other locations across Chorley and Preston. In addition we provide an online and telephone service too.

You will be involved in delivering a full range of specialist Pain Management Physiotherapy approaches including listening and communication to facilitate shared understanding of complex pain presentations, goal setting, exercise, graded exposure to confident and relaxed movement, pacing, relaxation skills, flare up planning and support regarding daily living and work.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for a specialist physiotherapy caseload of adult and older people with diverse therapy needs.

To undertake comprehensive assessment of adult and older people with diverse presentations, using self-determined investigative and analytical skills, to formulate hypotheses in order to determine a diagnosis

To establish individualised management and treatment plans, using clinical reasoning and utilising a range of evidence based treatment and skills and options to formulate interventions and programmes of care.

To participate in the co-ordination, development and delivery of training programmes and information packages for colleagues in health, voluntary sector organizations, and patients/ carers.
