Full Job Description
The post holder will provide a high standard of physiotherapy service to the Orthopaedic therapy team including specific caseloads within Trauma and Elective care.
The post requires the individual to be part of a specialist-integrated team providing assessment and treatment to patients acutely recovering from orthopaedic injuries/surgery as either planned procedures or emergency admissions. Providing clinical expertise, leadership and staff supervision for the orthopaedic wards. The post holder will also be required to demonstrate self-management, education and treatment to patients in the sub-acute phase of elective orthopaedic surgery in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. The post will require the individual to work on 2 sites., Key areas within the post:
To lead in the assessment and management of patients post orthopaedic surgery or soft tissue/bony injuries (in both inpatient and outpatient settings)
To provide specialist teaching to junior staff and the wider MDT.
To provide acute post-operative patients with recommendations for a holistic and thorough ongoing management plan.
To be a part of the pre-operation hip/knee education talks and pathway as required.
To assess, rehab and discharge plan for patients on the orthopaedic ward
To manage a large varied caseload, prioritising and delegating appropriately.
To deputise for the band 7 in their absence.
Referrals and liaison with community colleagues for holistic follow up beyond the hospital.
To actively participate and contribute to the development of the service.
To attend and represent physiotherapy in MDT and governance meetings as required.
To be an active part of an integrated service with our occupational therapy colleagues.
To remain up to date with relevant research and guidance, updating orthopaedic-based policies/protocols accordingly.
To be an active participating member of the orthopaedic study days
We are looking for a Physiotherapist with excellent communication skills to join the Physiotherapy team at Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust. The post is for a static role in acute frailty.
Candidates
Essential experience required:
Significant post-graduate clinical experience to include participation in audit or other evidence based clinical practice activity.
Experience of working as a Band 5 Physiotherapist
Evidence of participation in In-service training
HCPC registration and CSP membership
