Full Job Description

Are you a skilled and proactive professional with a passion for planning and development? We are seeking a Senior Planning Enforcement Officer to play a pivotal role in our Planning Enforcement service. This is your opportunity to lead on a diverse range of planning enforcement cases, offering expert advice and support to the Council and our community.,

  • Manage a varied caseload of planning enforcement issues, ensuring compliance with planning regulations.
  • Provide guidance and support to the Planning Enforcement Assistant and respond to customer enquiries with professionalism and clarity.
  • Act as the primary case officer for processing planning applications and appeals initiated through enforcement investigations.
  • Conduct site inspections, collate evidence, and take appropriate action based on findings.
  • Prepare detailed reports and recommend formal enforcement action where necessary.
  • Represent the council at appeals or in court, presenting evidence with confidence and accuracy.

    We are looking for a proactive problem-solver with a keen eye for detail and a passion for planning. You will be:
  • Organised and Diplomatic: Excellent at managing a busy workload and adept at handling sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Skilled Communicator: Able to explain complex planning legislation clearly to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Independent and Collaborative: Comfortable working independently, with the ability to make informed decisions on-site, while also being a supportive team player.
  • Technical Expert: Competent in interpreting and explaining plans and technical drawings. Experience in working in planning is essential, with a background in planning enforcement preferred.
  • Qualifications:
  • Membership (or eligibility for membership) of the RTPI (Royal Town Planning Institute).
  • Relevant experience in planning; experience in planning enforcement is desirable.
