Full Job Description

  • The post is advertised as up to 37 hours per week, however the number of hours per week, working pattern and work location can be agreed with the successful candidate. This can include arrangements to work predominantly from home.
  • We are looking for a forward thinking, enthusiastic and highly motivated Senior Planning Officer to join our customer focussed and proactive award-winning Development Management team. The Senior Planning Officer will be specifically responsible for the delivery of strategic planning applications emanating from the council's emerging Core Strategy Review. These include emerging proposals for an 80ha employment site at the New Stanton, and a 1,200 home urban extension of Kirk Hallam, in addition to other major and significant planning applications.

    You will need experience of dealing with a wide, diverse, and interesting range of applications and associated work and have a problem-solving and proactive approach to delivering quality outcomes including complex and major applications. As a committed team player, you need good written and verbal communication skills. Dealing with customers is an important part of the role and you must be dedicated to providing high quality customer service.
