Full Job Description

As a Senior Power Systems Engineer, you will work within a team to perform electrical engineering tasks, support business growth, and develop client relationships. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting power system studies (load flow analysis, short circuit calculations, and protection systems).

  • Performing power system transient analysis for DP assets.

  • Preparing documentation and attending site visits for marine and offshore assets (rigs, production facilities, FPSOs).

  • Learning new skills and technologies including novel/emerging technologies

  • Have keen knowledge of classification rules and ensuring compliance with electrical engineering standards (IEC/IEEE/BS/IMCA/MTS/OCIMF).

  • Conducting technical reviews and assisting with tenders and proposals.

  • Leading projects and mentoring junior staff.

  • Ensuring quality document delivery and liaising with clients for project completion., The successful candidate will be part of a very distinctive and aspiring DP Engineering team in the UK with strong collaboration with other ABL group offices worldwide.   • knowledge of fuel cells, batteries and other novel electrical storage devices.

  • Power system modelling and simulation (examples: PSCAD, ETAP, Power Factory).

  • Harmonics study and provide solutions by designing the filters.

  • Frequency and voltage response of power network studies.


  • The role is primarily office-based in London, UK (other UK locations considered), and the candidate must have the right to live and work in the UK.
    Some local and international travel will be required (to meet clients in international hubs) and to conduct inspections attendances. It is anticipated that travel will be around 30% of the working time., To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in electrical and electronics engineering, complemented by relevant industry experience. Additionally, you must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team whilst be able to think critically and make data-driven decisions.
    In addition, you will have:
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience in operational, design, or consultancy roles.

  • Comprehensive understanding of the energy industry, marine operations, and maritime sector.

  • Proficient in Control and Electrical systems and equipment.

  • Ability to read and analyze Controls and Electrical drawings.

  • Programming skills in Python, Power Factory, ETAP, C++, PSCAD, or other embedded electronics software.
