Your role is to review, and progress, the potential for a child in care to be supported through a Special Guardianship Order(SGO). You will also support children and families where the plan is a return home through placement with Parents. The role of the children in care service is to support Children in care and their families and a key part of this is to understand when a family or their network are ready to care for their child again. You will therefore support Family Network Meetings to generate the skills and knowledge, and team around a child to enable a successful return home., We are keen to support employees to balance their working life with other commitments. Therefore, wherever possible, we will consider working arrangements that suit an individual's personal circumstances whilst still meeting the needs of the Council.   • Understanding of the key legislation and regulation around permanence for children and young people and upcoming legislation.
  • Extensive experience in writing and presenting statements to the court.
  • Extensive experience in writing assessments, including Placement with Parents and needs assessments.
  • Ability and experience in managing staff and students.
  • Ability to present data and updates to senior leaders regarding progress in your area.
  • To deputise for a team manager within the children in care service when needed, including chairing meetings.
  • A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post., To apply for this post, you must have:
  • A social work qualification (degree or equivalent)
  • Experience of social work practice working with children and families.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, child care legislation and social work practice.
  • An understanding of Trauma informed practice
  • Ability to communicate clearly, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyse information to reach a decision.
  • Ability to manage your time and prioritise tasks, with the ability to respond flexibly to changing requirement.
  • You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion.
