Full Job Description

The Bolton division of GMMH is looking to recruit a compassionate, motivated, highly skilled and knowledgeable mental health practitioner into the role of Senior Practitioner for Complex Emotional and Relational Needs (CERN) for Inpatients.

The post holder will support the Rivington Unit leadership team, multidisciplinary teams and psychological/CERN practitioners in providing care and treatment to people with complex emotional and relational needs who are admitted to the unit.

The post holder will work closely with the Matron/Operational Manager, Quality Matron, lead Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Lead for CERN in developing therapeutic interventions and clinical pathways for this client group.

With appropriate supervision, the post holder will be required to deliver therapeutic interventions to and coordinate a caseload of people on the unit with CERN.

The post holder will provide CERN specific training and clinical supervision/leadership to the inpatient team and colleagues in wider services in conjunction with other CERN practitioner and the clinical lead.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will need to have extensive knowledge of trauma informed care and the impact of adverse childhood experience on people with complex emotional and relational needs (CERN).

The post holder will work across all three wards on Rivington Unit, carrying out detailed assessments, formulations and delivering therapeutic and evidence-based interventions. The unit consists of two single gender acute wards and a make PICU.

The post holder may be required to deliver specific interventions such as Structured Clinical Management (SCM) or Mentalization Based therapy (MBT) and will be supported to apply for the appropriate and relevant training.

The post holder will work with division CERN practitioners to deliver CERN specific training to colleagues in the wider teams.

The post holder will need to have experience of working with people with complex emotional needs or who may have been given a diagnosis of Personality Disorder, be able to develop and maintain effective therapeutic relationships and alliances with people with relational difficulties and have a strong interest/optimism in these people's recovery.

The post holder will need to be able to communicate clearly and effectively with people who can become highly distressed, colleagues and members of the multidisciplinary team, carers and relatives and also colleagues in the wider system/partner agencies.
