We are seeking a qualified Senior / Principal Mechanical Building Services Engineer to support and develop the project delivery, technical capability, and profitability of our Building Services team in Brighton in support of a wider team in Croydon, London and Cambridge. Â The buildings services team comprises 110 staff within the multidisciplinary buildings team of 550 staff in London and the Southeast Division.Â

The Building Services team enjoys successful client relationships in Stations; Airports; Residential, Defence; Healthcare; Local Authority; Education; and Higher Education. We are keen to grow our expertise and size of team.Â

Our projects are regional, national and global with opportunities for travel in support of such.Â

We are seeking a candidate who will help build client relationships through excellent project delivery and communication skills and help in generate more work from clients. Â Â

Â

The candidate will be self-motivated and capable of delivering high quality designs to time and budget with minimum supervision. As part of the wider practice network the team has developed reputation for work winning, successful project delivery and technical excellence. Â

We are looking to support a candidate with long-term career goals in both design and management.Â

The successful candidate will typically be responsible for;Â

  • All aspects of assigned project design work.Â

  • Driving technical excellence in sustainability and safety in our designs.Â

  • Support graduate/early career professionals, act as technical mentor.Â

  • Working and liaising with other disciplines whilst delivering projects.Â

  • Management of internal and external stakeholders.Â

  • Support to senior managers running the commercial and contractual side of projects.Â

  • A range of small to large projects within our building services team.Â

  • Working autonomously within a team carrying out building services projects. Â

  • Potentially managing several projects and the work of others.Â, Manage engineering teams comprising building services engineers, structural engineers and civil engineers. Â Â

  • Take financial control of project fees.Â

  • Train graduates/Early Career Professionals (ECP).Â

  • Understand client and market requirements.Â

  • Bid for work.Â

  • Maximise profitability of projects, monitoring against budget, reacting and anticipating potential problems and communicating in line with client expectations.Â

  • Be based in our Brighton office for a minimum of three days a week.Â

  • Travel to projects and offices across the London and the Southeast as required with occasional national and global travel.Â

  • Have a track record in building services mechanical engineering design and specification using relevant industry software (NBS Create, IES, TAS and REVIT etc).Â

  • Have a track record of working in teams.Â

  • Have excellent communication skills, including report writing and presentations.Â

  • Have an ability to work collaboratively, both internally and with external partners and sub-contractors.Â

  • Being responsible for the design and delivery of a wide range of projects.Â

  • Up to date knowledge of current building regulations, legislation and standards applicable in building and infrastructure design.Â

  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work on own initiative and the confidence to make decisions.Â
