Full Job Description

Location: Hybrid (Work from home & office locations in Selby, Richmond, Scarborough, Malton, Northallerton, Skipton, and Harrogate)

Role Summaries:

Senior Level:

· Manage a caseload of planning applications, providing expert advice and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

· Attend Planning Committees and represent our services in presenting agenda items.

· Drive a customer-focused approach in delivering high-quality planning decisions and continuous improvement.

Principal Level:

· Take the lead on complex planning applications, influencing significant projects and negotiations.

· Project manage key strategic development sites, ensuring alignment with legislative and policy frameworks.

· Promote community benefits through development proposals while maintaining excellent customer service standards.

Key Responsibilities (Senior & Principal Levels):

· Conduct thorough assessments of planning applications and provide insightful advice.

· Attend site inspections and participate in planning meetings to advocate for our services.

· Develop and present appeal statements and engage in public inquiries as needed.

· Lead on negotiations and strategic developments, ensuring compliance with local and national regulations.

· Qualifications: Degree level education and eligibility for RTPI Membership with a solid understanding of planning legislation.

· Experience: Proven background in managing complex development proposals and the planning process.

· Skills: Strong customer care abilities, autonomous working capability, and competence in IT systems including Microsoft Office.

· Attributes: Excellent communication skills, persuasive negotiation abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
