Full Job Description

As our Senior Programme Coordinator, you will be responsible for crucial programme management activities, including contracting, financial management and reporting, organising logistics, report writing and general support to allocated projects. The role will also support Business Development activities.

Core Responsibilities

  • Developing and executing mobilisation work plans for new programmes and projects, including recruiting, contracting and onboarding staff/consultants/partner organisations and developing and utilising programme tools and documents;

  • Supporting country teams with programme management activities across functions, including but not limited to finance, recruitment and HR, as the critical point of contact in London;

  • Ensuring compliance with and supporting the improvement of operational systems, policies and processes; ensuring compliance with client standards, e.g. FCDO supplier code of conduct, including due diligence and monitoring of downstream delivery partners;

  • Researching and synthesising knowledge to convey Abt's technical and operational capabilities across priority sectors (including governance, health, and economic development) to partners and clients;

  • Working with internal and external stakeholders and contributing to technical deliverables across programmes, where required;

  • Closely tracking, mitigating and reporting on operational risks in support of achieving program activities;

  • Financial management tasks, including accurate project forecasting, budget modelling and regular reporting;

  • Contributing to commentary on financial and commercial performance and the identification and management of risks;

  • Cost tracking and management, client invoicing and reporting, audit preparation and response;

  • Management of programme travel logistics - including security, insurance and bookings;

  • Direct line management responsibilities within projects/programmes or a growing delivery team - setting objectives, supporting day-to-day work plan management and delegating duties as appropriate;

  • Supporting a broad range of tender preparation activities, including market research, proposal management, coordination of tender teams, preparing tender agreements, and reviewing, editing and formatting tender document

    At least three years' experience in a similar role, where tasks include contracting, recruitment, budgeting, travel and logistics planning, and risk management.

  • Demonstrable experience in supporting and managing teams, supporting innovation and delivering programme management excellence.

  • Demonstrable experience working in complex and time-pressured contexts with the ability to prioritise competing demands and challenging requirements.

  • Experience in supporting and supervising technical assistance programmes, including project mobilisation /inception phase

  • Track record of working effectively with remote teams in developing countries to ensure excellent programme delivery, including managing relationships with subcontractors and consultants.

  • Ability to communicate persuasively and effectively verbally and in writing.

  • Experience in upward solid management, including coordinating input from consortium partners and senior management.

  • Strong financial management acumen with experience managing budgets for effective delivery, closely monitoring cash flow and ensuring robust forecasting and reporting to clients.

  • Experience working with clients and donors, including FCDO and the Green Climate Fund preferred

  • Experience in fund and grant management programmes preferred
