Full Job Description

As the Senior Programme Manager, you will lead the Works Delivery (Signalling, Track and Lineside) and Area Services teams for the Central Route. You will be responsible for the delivery of the CP7 programme of works in line with business requirements, and to the scope defined by the client in terms of time, cost, and quality. The programme of works should be undertaken in a safe and environmentally responsible manner and compliant to the Construction Design and Management Regulations (2015). You will also be responsible for the Delivery Unit Activity Based Plan process in conjunction with our maintenance, engineering and finance colleagues, and oversee the planning of the On Track Machine commitment.

Day to day you will be accountable for:

· Leading the programme team to deliver the business and customer objectives agreed, whilst reviewing and confirming compliance with appropriate company governance, standards and procedures.

· Achieving the programme outturn and margins as agreed with the Infrastructure Director / Executive lead.

· Developing an appropriate strategy for the development and delivery of the programme work scope.

· Identifying priority opportunities within the programme and lead promotion and sharing of best practice between programmes.

· Monitoring planning so that it considers cross-programme requirements and supports the effective delivery of contracted obligations.

· Developing and improve relationships with key stakeholders, customers and suppliers.

· Developing and managing the programme team, monitoring adequate resources available to deliver a flexible, competent, skilled and effective workforce at all times.

· Contributing as a member of the programme organisations senior management team.

· Leading compliance in corporate health, safety, quality and environment processes for the programme.

· Implementing relevant parts of the renewals plan.

· Sponsoring audit of programme and project documentation

· Member of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or educated to degree level.

· Relevant experience in the successful management of major programmes of work in the construction and/or rail industries.

· Strong commercial focus and financially astute.

· Knowledge of the principles of investment processes and procedures.

· Knowledge of the principles of Health & Safety, quality and environment legislation and best practice.

· Excellent communication with demonstrable delivery of leadership and behavioural change within a large organisation.

It's not mandatory to have the below, but it would be desirable to have:

· Knowledge of/experience in the UK railway industry.

· Knowledge of/experience within Infrastructure Projects/Capital Delivery

· Knowledge of the Construction Design and Management Regulations (2015).

· Railway maintenance experience.

· Designated Competent Person (DCP) competence.

· Successfully completed the Strategic Safety Management Course or equivalent

You will be part of the North West & Central Region, working for Central Route.

Central route is at the heart of Britain's railway and covers a major part of the national rail network, with hundreds of thousands of passengers, and thousands of tonnes of freight carried within our route each week. Within our route is the Chiltern Main Line between London Marylebone and the West Midlands, the Snow Hill line from Stratford-upon-Avon to Worcester, the Cross City line in Birmingham, and lines to other cities including Wolverhampton, Coventry, Walsall, and Oxford.

We also have big plans under way in the Central route. The planned HS2 railway includes stops in Birmingham and Solihull, providing much-needed additional capacity on the rail network and faster journeys for passengers. East West Rail will also re-establish a rail link between Cambridge and Oxford and improve connectivity within the region.

Salary range starting from £97, 850 raising to £110,081 per annum per annum.

Network Rail adheres to a structured pay framework, any salary offered will be within the pay range advertised.
