Full Job Description

As a Senior Delivery Manager, you will lead multiple projects of varying complexity within a multi-disciplinary Delivery Team aligned to either a specific Service Line or programme, where you will build strong, long-term partnerships with your business stakeholders, understanding their strategic direction, business needs and processes to become their trusted advisor on all elements of delivery. You will champion the promotion of integrity in all endeavours and be confident to challenge stakeholders to put the needs of the business first by bringing the right people together and raising risks, issues, and dependencies that negatively impact delivery. You will be skilled in agile delivery of complex projects or programmes, understanding the roles within the team and how they work together. You will be able to choose the appropriate methodology according to the circumstances and apply the appropriate approach. With your in-depth knowledge and solid grasp of project management principles, you can equally adopt to traditional project management approaches as required, to support the business' objectives. You will strive to demonstrate role model behavior for other delivery managers by taking full ownership and accountability for successful project delivery and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include

  • Establish appropriate governance and assurance, monitoring progress, managing risks and issues and ensuring readiness for change
  • Provide delivery reports, metrics and measurements to business stakeholders
  • Set an example of what great Delivery Management looks like, ensuring quality and attention to detail is embedded throughout your communication and deliverables
  • Regularly undertake activities to engage and build trust with the team and the stakeholders
  • Manage diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution
  • Provide delivery confidence by managing complex internal and external dependencies by removing blockers or impediments
  • Manage changes in project scope, costs, resources and timing within the framework of agreed governance and change control processes
  • Own and engage in all stages of the agile development process - planning, stand-up, show-and-tell and retrospective ceremonies
  • Encourage and facilitate continuous improvement of the delivery team, creating a supportive environment for the team and space for development
  • Act as a role model and mentor to motivate and aspire others to take positive action and accountability for their work

  • Knowledge and experience of applying a range of delivery/ development life cycles, e.g. Waterfall, Agile, Iterative.
  • Strong verbal and written communication to be able to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels, building rapport and inspiring confidence in leadership of delivering projects.
  • Strong financial and commercial awareness and experience of managing budgets and resource utilisation.
  • Value and outcome-driven, with a positive "can-do" attitude.
  • Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling projects.
  • Experience in agile delivery methodologies (e.g. Kanban, Scrum) and in transitioning teams to agile ways of working.
  • Will have worked extensively with geographically distributed teams on and offshore.
