Full Job Description

The Waste and Resource Management Team are looking for a dynamic individual, who is able to collaborate effectively and apply project management skills to a fast-paced position. The role offers a hybrid of reactive workload, responding to urgent issues relating to sites or online systems, as well as project management responsibilities looking at creating efficiencies and improvements throughout the service.

Working as part of the Universal Services' Waste and Resource Management Team, the post-holder will have a variety of responsibilities in support of delivering a range of innovative projects and work streams related to waste management in Hampshire. There will be a particular focus on the management of the County Council's closed landfill sites and Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs).

Your role will assist with the management of the HWRC Contract to ensure compliance with contract conditions, statutory obligations and corporate standards of customer care.

The County Council is responsible for the management of 14 former landfill sites and 24 HWRCs. Your role will also involve supervising the procurement of specialist contractors to undertake environmental monitoring and effective day-to-day management of the closed landfill sites. You will audit the standard of work delivered, interpret monitoring data and recommend improvements where required., We are a Disability Confident Employer - committed to ensuring that our recruitment and selection process is inclusive and accessible.

Educated to degree level, you will have experience of managing projects and contractors that can be effectively applied to the management of the closed landfill sites and HWRCs, where you should be prepared to solve the practical problems this can present. You will be expected to hold a valid driving licence and meet the travel requirements of the role.

Universal Services core services include highways, waste, transport, planning, and flooding. The role holder will be expected to work flexibly across the service stream as the demands of workload, projects and priorities dictate.
