Full Job Description

As a Senior Quality Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll be focussed on project quality and be working on quality management plans and test plans which will be linked to multiple contracts, making sure the business is compliant. The key focus of this role is to support the delivery of one of our most important contracts on time, to the right quality and to the planned cost. Day-to-day, provide advice, guidance and support to the business on all matters related to quality, ensuring outputs meet customer and regulatory requirements in a timely manner.

  • Represent the customer's interests and help to maintain the open and collaborative relationship we have. Liaise regularly with the customer quality representative
  • Provide quality input and advice through the product lifecycle
  • Identify quality risk and work to mitigate, manage and escalate to programme leadership
  • Oversee progress and sign-off on completion of the delivery process to give the customer assurance their requirements have been met
  • Quality planning in production and supply chain to drive a Right-First-Time culture
  • Lead investigations into quality escapes, managing through to preventative action using suitable tools and techniques
  • This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2/3 days in the office/onsite and 2/3 days working from home dependant on business needs.

  • Quality assurance background with considerable practical, hands-on experience and be familiar with how quality applies throughout a product or service delivery lifecycle
  • Previous customer-facing roles or experience is beneficial
  • Experience of implementing quality improvements and encouraging culture change within an organisation
  • Experience of auditing quality AS9100 management systems - Desirable
  • An excellent working knowledge of quality tools and problem-solving techniques
  • Knowledge and experience of continuous improvement tools, Membership of a recognised quality institute - Desirable (Babcock can support you through this if not already obtained)
  • ISO9001-2015 internal auditor - Desirable (Babcock can support you through this if not already obtained)
  • Experience working in quality within a manufacturing environment - Desirable
  • Aerospace, defence or highly regulated industry experience - Desirable
  • Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
