Full Job Description

Due to continued growth the position of Senior Quantity Surveyor has become available to join newly established team based at Heathrow.

As Heathrow embarks upon its 7th regulatory period "H7", Costain was awarded two lots as Major Project Partner and Asset Renewal Partner for Terminal 2 - The Queen's Terminal.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will work as part of the commercial and procurement team with the primary focus being on drafting subcontracts once they have been through the tender stage. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will work closely with the procurement team during the tender process, be involved in tender negotiations and provide advice and support to the Procurement team to ensure that there is a smooth transition when it comes to subcontract award.

  • Holds an RICS / CICES accredited degree


  • Senior Quantity Surveyors will hold or be nearing completion of Full Membership with RICS/CICES


  • Must be proficient in Subcontract negotiation and contract drafting


  • Must have procurement experience


  • Must have good understanding in the knowledge and application of NEC Contracts


  • Must be able to demonstrate negotiating skills and securing best value outcomes


  • Providing support to Commercial Manager/Senior Commercial Manager


  • Extensive experience of setting up and/or operating office management systems including filing systems and document control and distribution


  • Extensive experience of technical minute taking at contractual meetings and able to demonstrate the


  • ability to collate information, prepare reports, payment certificates and interim financial reports and closeout reports


  • Extensive experience of drafting effective contractual correspondence and the facilitation of collaborative solutions


  • Minimum 5 years post-graduate commercial experience in the construction industry with demonstrable track record of achievement


  • Demonstrable financial and commercial acumen
