Full Job Description

+ Inputting to the efficient and effective management and issuing of accurate, timely and compliant notices and correspondence.
+ Preparation and assessment of applications, valuations, cost/value reconciliation.
+ Cost control and forecasting. Prepare and provide input to monthly reports: value, cost, profit/loss, cash flow and budget.
+ Preparation and agreement of applications for payment or the assessment & preparation of payment certificates.
+ Preparation of project forecasting.
+ Assisting with Risk and Value Management to optimise solution. Monitor and regularly review with the project team. Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks.
+ Contract Management, including all relevant contractual forms, methods of budgetary control and relevant software applications.
+ Prepare supply chain enquiries, negotiate, administer and finalise / close out supply chain contracts.
+ Ensure all notifications/documents are managed in accordance with the contract, and customer / company policy.
+ Ongoing liaison with site team, subcontractors and Customers' representatives
+ Undertake record-keeping including but not limited to collating site records, the preparation of meeting packs, meeting invites and taking meeting minutes.
+ Provide contractual advice to the project / site team as and when appropriate.
+ Maintaining awareness of the different construction contracts in current use
+ Administering the sub-contract in relation to change - drafting EW's, drafting EI's, drafting GC's, assessing Compensation Events and quotes.
+ Preparation of quotations for submission to HS2.
+ Attend risk reduction meetings.
+ Use MS excel to extract and present data to show progress.
+ Lead and develop the efficient and effective management and issue of accurate, timely and contract compliant documentation.
+ Work closely with project management and engineering teams and liaise with Employers commercial team and client team.
+ Review and fully understand the cl.32 changes for compensation events.
+ Progress continuous own professional development.
+ Competent in the application of IT skills to commercial management and the production of project documentation.
+ Demonstrate and maintain commercial and technical knowledge and work closely with technical staff to develop appropriate techniques and solutions for the project.

o Effective and consistent implementation of the SCS Commercial Policy and procedures.
o Identify and provide appropriate, timely information to support change control process.
o Maintain registers of variations, delay, extension times and claims.

  • Relevant Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent relevant industry experience.

  • Strong work ethic.

  • Strong knowledge of the NEC suite of contracts with a minimum of 3 years contract experience.

  • Strong Subcontractor and supply chain commercial management experience.

  • Demonstrable forecasting experience.

  • Negotiating and team-working skills and the ability to motivate and lead.

  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience in rail or infrastructure projects.

  • Right to Work in the UK., A physical or mental impairment, which has a substantial and long-term effect (over 12 months) adverse effect on your ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities

  • Demonstrated in your application and pre-interview stage that you meet the minimum job criteria and person specification for the role

    The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK's new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK's 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services


  • The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
