Full Job Description
The VI (Validation and Integration) team are looking for an adaptable, enthusiastic and reliable individual to join our team of skilled engineers in Cambridge. The team plays a pivotal role in the transfer to production of the company's Mobile, Voice & Music and IoT products, from bring-up to lab evaluation to mass production. During this time, it is at the centre of an ongoing process to validate, optimize and debug the performance of the radio system. This work is done in conjunction with colleagues across a variety of teams both in the UK and overseas. Working within our team provides a unique opportunity to work across the engineering disciplines from high-level software to low-level hardware. This is enabled, in addition to the work on Qualcomm's products, by the fact that the team also actively develops its own in-house automation infrastructure in collaboration with other teams. The group consists of multi-disciplined (RF, analogue, software and digital) engineers who work closely with specialist design and systems engineers. This broad base of knowledge is deployed to provide optimal tuning and configuration solutions for radio operation. The role is predominantly lab-based working at circuit, cell, subsystem and system level., The successful candidate will be:
- Responsible for the pre- and post-silicon integration and optimisation of the radio system, which includes digits, firmware and analogue/RF. This involves chip bring-up, system-level validation and debugging, to provide a complete radio system solution which meets the product KPMs, including over temperature and process skews.
- Interfacing with various cross-functional teams (RF, analogue and digital IC designers, software, system engineering, test engineers, customer engineering, and operations) to drive and incorporate the latest design solutions in the production program to improve yield, productivity, and quality.
- Working on digital emulator platforms, essential knowledge of digital design flow, ability to read and debug RTL code.
- Troubleshooting complex issues with the radio, making use of a coherent thought process, data analysis, test equipment and know-how of RF principles and the design of the system
- Responsible for automation for development and validation of ASIC products, generating Python test scripts, writing embedded C code for FW radio control, supporting the business group with radio training materials and investigating customer issues and product returns where required.
- Managing project-related activities (e.g., meetings, documentation, deliverables) between their team and other teams working on the same or similar products, operating across locations and time zones.
