Full Job Description

Applications are invited for a Bioinformatician Project Team Lead to join the Genomics and Bioinformatics Core (GBC) within the Institute of Metabolic Science ¿ Metabolic Research Laboratories at the Clinical School, University of Cambridge.

The GBC provides analytical and data management support to research groups within the Metabolic Research Laboratories (MRL) and covers aspects of genomics such as genome sequencing and single-cell approaches, in addition to broader data integration efforts across multiple types of 'omics data.

This role's main purpose is to provide service level management to the Institute and project management to the bioinformatician team, including line management of a team of three other bioinformaticians. The role will act as the key person for ensuring that multiple projects and studies are supported and executed to plan. The role will assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, in a manner that: optimizes team capability; delivers timely and accurate results; and supports the needs of the science. They will ensure that the assigned team executes their work in accordance with the study requirements. They will manage the High Performance Computing budget in collaboration with the Scientific Directors of the Genomics & Bioinformaticians Core.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 March 2030 in the first instance.
