Full Job Description

You will have established the strategic direction of a major research programme in this area. In addition, you are expected to contribute on an international level to the field of organelle biology and drug discovery to complement current research activity in this area.

Areas of particular interest in the department are endo-lysosomal biology and ion/molecule transport and its relevance to both rare and common diseases. For this post, you must have experience with endolysosomal patch clamp electrophysiology along with iPSC modeling of neurodegenerative and lysosomal storage diseases.
You will also be required to play a leading role in the development of industrial links between the department and Pharma. You will also, ideally, have experience in developing spin-out companies in the area of drug discovery. You will be responsible for providing vision and direction for research collaborators and colleagues and will be expected to contribute to the department's teaching efforts.
You must be a leading authority in your subject with a considerable international reputation and a strong background in measuring organelle ion fluxes by electrophysiological or fluorescent approaches. Experience of drugging organelle processes, especially transport mechanisms, plus endolysosomal patch clamp electrophysiology along with iPSC modeling of neurodegenerative and lysosomal storage diseases are all essential to his position.
