Full Job Description

The Strategic Development team plays an instrumental part in supporting in leading strategic developments across North East London, working with partners from across the system. This role will manage the research & innovation function for the ICB within the NEL system.

This role will;

  • Manage the development and implementation of the ICB research strategy, using the ICS strategy to inform research aims & goals

  • Implementation & management of the new ICS research governance and associated processes in line with agreed ICS vision and approach

  • Work with the Clinical Lead for Research and Innovation to engage and coordinate with place and provider collaborative research leads and academia to ensure strategic coherence between partners across the system

  • Support development of the ICB relationships with academia in line with the ICS vision of becoming a learning system including support for a new Research and Education Advisory Group

  • Manage the bid process to support our research strategy, including drafting of bids, related MOUs, financial management, etc.

  • Project manage research projects as needed to support our research strategy, including PMO aspects

  • Carry out research literature reviews relevant to our strategy

  • Support the direction of future local research and innovation initiatives by identifying and communicating the local priorities to relevant academic and other partners

  • Design and implement model for how NEL ICB can encourage innovation within NEL, Horizon scan for innovation, assess the impact it would have if adopted in NEL and promote evidence-based innovations

  • Convene partners to support sharing of learning and best practice from innovation across NEL

  • Initiate new innovative strategies, initiatives and 'asks' of the system from the Board / NHSE or in response to community intelligence and insights, supporting system to embed new innovations by, and interfacing with, relevant NEL team regarding piloting new initiatives

  • Develop systems & processes that enables us to:

  • + systematically collate, manage, share & act on evidence-based knowledge
    + incorporate evaluation & wider evidence into our current investment programme, to enable us to assess where interventions are evidence based, provide best value for money (in outcomes, activity and experience) & where needed, we take evidence-based best practices from elsewhere and implement locally, and
    + link existing R&I with our ICS system portfolios to make it as relevant to our population needs and to maximise the impact we will have on our local people
  • Manage the development and implementation of our learning system, coordinating input and delivery from partners

  • Draft briefing papers as required to relevant boards and committees

  • Plan and manage events when required to promote research and innovation across NEL

  • Develop and deliver comms plan related to research and innovation

  • Support other areas of the Strategic Development team as required, We are an exciting new organisation putting the needs of communities at the heart of our commissioning arrangements.
