Full Job Description

Rare opportunity to join our long covid team. Solent Long Covid Service is an allied health-professional led assessment and rehabilitation service providing education and supported self-management for patients with Long COVID within the Southampton and Portsmouth populations. Access to the service is through GP, Consultant, Occupational Health or other specialist referral. Service delivery includes holistic specialist assessment, clinician led group education and 1:1 telephone, video or face to face intervention, supported by a specialist digital application. The service is multidisciplinary crossing primary, secondary and community care, alongside colleagues across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. The core clinical staff includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, other allied health professionals and non-clinical care co-ordinators locality to support patients navigate the complex pathways and support in the treatment pathway. There are weekly multi service and profession MDT's to provide shared decision making with respect to complex patient care. Care co-ordinators for each. The service is collaborating with wider provider systems to ensure equitable care to the region's population. The Long COVID Service has close working links with both the specialist Fatigue and Pain Services.Main duties of the job

  • To provide highly specialist physiotherapy assessment and intervention within the long covid clinics
  • Undertake advanced, specialist and holistic therapeutic assessments and treatment for your own caseload of patients with diverse and complex conditions, developing and delivering individualised treatment programmes.
  • To work with patients presenting with a wide range of Long Covid related symptoms including, but not limited to; fatigue, breathlessness, cough, cognitive impairment, joint and muscle pain, neurological symptoms, cardiac symptoms, mental health symptoms, changes to taste and smell, ENT and gastro symptoms.
  • To be an advocate for patient empowerment and promote a rehabilitation ethos in all elements of patient care and activity.
  • To support the case management process by providing expert clinical advice and therapy to patients with a variety of complex conditions
  • To assist senior staff in the education and supervision of junior colleagues, assistants and students
  • To assist senior staff in development and maintenance of an efficient and effective service through
  • To support senior and junior staff to develop their skills and map their development needs alongside the workforce plan.
  • To provide strong clinical leadership and presence, which inspires, motivates, and empowers the team and promotes a structure of clear authority and credibility, embedding a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement within their area of responsibility.

    £46,148 to £52,809 a year Please note for part time hours the salary will be pro rata.
