Full Job Description

The Senior SAP Solutions Architect supports the SAP collaboration function and Enterprise Architecture by providing high quality solution architecture designs and solution artifacts to defined standards and principles. This role supports the SAP function to ensure that the strategy and roadmaps are communicated and applied appropriately across Dwr Cymru Welsh Water (and appropriate third parties) by providing direction and guidance on all technical and functional aspects of the development of, and modifications to, the application architecture. This role will be required to perform the role of the Design Authority on projects ensuring compliance of new solution designs with the agreed strategy and architecture.What you'll be responsible for

  • Work with the Lead Enterprise Architect and Product Managers to understand implications of the proposed solution design on the enterprise applications strategy and landscape.
  • Support the SAP functions in defining and maintaining the solution architecture and applications roadmap.
  • Ensure current architecture is defined and maintained to agreed standards, supporting and adhering to defined architectural principles.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge, document solution artifacts including solution plans and harvest architectural patterns for reuse.
  • General understanding of the latest SAP technology innovations which informs the overall technical direction.
  • Communicate proposed Solution Architecture options and designs to the relevant design authority to enable informed decision making.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and emerging standards, working with partners/vendors to understand new application releases or new applications being considered for use by DCWW.
  • Form part of the delivery team, performing the following activities:
  • - Support Business Analysts / Product Managers in refining high level functional and non-functional requirements. - Provide solution options based on defined requirements and create high-level solution designs as an input to the solution plan. - Ensure any proposed solution designs adherence to the architecture standards and principles including "Secure By Design". - Proactively support SCRUM design sessions to refine implementation approaches as part of "five amigos" review. - Support Technical Delivery Leads in informing the logical sequence of the build. - Support the Design Authority decision making. - Ensure all design documents are kept up to date throughout the delivery.

  • Experience of designing solutions in one or more of the following technologies such as SAP ECC, S/4HANA, SAP ARIBA, SAP BW, SAP BTP, SAP CPI , FIORI and automation and integration technologies.
  • Extensive experience of designing complex solution architecture from concept to ready to build across multiple technologies.
  • Ability to critically challenge / ascertain pro's and con's of available options.
  • Ability to harvest architectural patterns in order to promote reuse and consistency.
  • Knowledge of new and emerging technologies and industry best practice.
  • Experience of working as part of a SCRUM team, supporting design sessions and technical delivery leads in producing solution plans.
  • Experience of establishing applications architecture standards.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, Gartner) would be desirable but not essential.
