An excellent opportunity has arisen for a registered nurse who is an experienced professional, highly motivated, proactive and adaptable, with a demonstrable interest in Orthopaedic surgery to join a skilled and friendly team, to become the manager for the Mid Yorkshire Elective Orthopaedic hub, based at Pontefract hospital.

The Mid Yorkshire Elective Orthopaedic hub delivers pre and post operative care for a mixture of both inpatients and day case patients undergoing a wide variety of planned orthopaedic surgery. The 7 day service is supported by the multi-disciplinary team, including Advanced Clinical Practitioners.

We also have a level one facility that cares for patients requiring a higher level of observation following major orthopaedic surgery.

In addition, the role will also involve leading and delivering care for a wider variety of day case patients, including Urology, Ophthalmology, general surgery, and dental specialities.

You will be expected to use your expert clinical knowledge, alongside your management and leadership skills, to enhance the experience of patients and staff and to seek opportunities to engage with colleagues to embed and develop the service.

If you are enthusiastic, ambitious and have strong leadership skills, please do contact us for more information or to arrange an informal discussion., The post holder will carry continuing responsibility, operating within the clinical governance framework, for leading the ward nursing team and working in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, to ensure the delivery of high standards of nursing and clinical care to patients. They will be responsible for the managing human resources, equipment and stock within budget limits. They will advise and support staff, demonstrate a high level of competence in the speciality, and can be expected to broaden their remit, in line with current evidence base, knowledge and training. They will make decisions based upon knowledge and experience in respect of patient care and experience and be accountable for those decisions.

Through clinical leadership, knowledge of the Trusts core values will ensure that the ward/department team is informed, trained, and developed to enable care to be delivered to patients. This will be achieved through appropriate deployment and supervision of staff, education and professional development.

We provide care and support to over a million people in Wakefield and Kirklees in their homes, community settings and across our three hospital sites at Pontefract, Dewsbury and Pinderfields (Wakefield).

Always striving for excellence, we are at the forefront of innovation and research, and we invest in teaching and the development of our workforce.

We live by our values of caring, improving, being respectful and maintaining high standards. We listen and learn because we aim to make Mid Yorkshire the best place to work and receive care.

We value diversity and welcome talent and enthusiasm irrespective of age, disability, neurodivergence, sex, gender identity and gender expression, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation, or other personal circumstances including providing unpaid carers support to someone with a health and care need. As ethnic minority groups, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and people with a disability/neurodivergence are currently under-represented across the organisation, we encourage applications from members of these groups. We have policies and procedures to ensure all applicants are treated fairly and consistently.

We are proud of our staff networks - who offer valuable guidance and feedback from those with lived experience.

We have a clear vision and you could be part of this! If you share our values and you want to make a difference to the lives of our patients and their families and carers, we would love to hear from you.
