Full Job Description

A rare and exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Sister/Charge Nurse who is looking to further develop their career. The role for you may be the Senior Sister Charge Nurse post on the Clinical Immunology Allergy Unit Northern General Hospital.

The successful applicant will work as part of a Multi disciplinary team supporting the Matron and Operational team to ensure the highest possible safe and quality care is delivered to patients and the effective running of the service.

You will be able to make a difference, provide leadership and management to the nursing team on the Clinical Immunology Allergy Unit and be actively involved with the continual development of the service., Provide and promote high quality patient centred care to patients, ensuring individual patients needs are assessed, care planned, implemented and evaluated regularly in the Clinical Immunology Allergy Unit.

Provide 24 hours continuing responsibility for department whether on duty or not.

Exercise judgement in assessing wide ranging and complex patient problems. Agree solutions, ensure and promote options to enable the delivery of optimum patient care

Ensure that an effective discharge/transfer procedure is planned and actioned, so patients are discharged safely and in a timely manner

Act sensitively, confidentially and with empathy in demonstrating understanding of wide ranging physical and emotional needs.

Take the lead in managing contentious, sensitive and delicate issues

Responsible for maintaining contemporaneous, timely and accurate records and reporting patient progress to medical staff and the multi-disciplinary team, both written and electronic

Assisting the medical staff with any observations, treatment and procedures as appropriate, and participate in research programmes in accordance with the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.

Demonstrate appropriate Leadership skills, Management and Supervision of the Nursing team, providing an environment in which staff feel valued both for their contribution to the units and as individuals.

Act as a role model and teacher, providing mentorship and support and demonstrate exemplary practice to all members of the Nursing team.

You will need to have excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate professional values which mirror the Trust PROUD values and behaviours.
