Full Job Description

1. Act as a Clinical Nurse / leader to ensure the needs of patients are recognised and met by the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care. Will take steps to deal with any difficulty in the care process and in implementing planned care. 2. Act as a point of liaison for multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working in order to achieve the best possible outcome for patient care. Will take appropriate action to remedy any deficiencies in service provision from other agencies. 3. Provide registered nurse support to junior nursing staff. 4. Maintains the Trusts aims and objectives within the clinical setting. 5. Accountable and responsible for accurate and legible record keeping in accordance with local policies and NMC guidelines 6. Administer Intravenous drugs in accordance with Trust policies 7. Undertake additional training as required to meet the needs of the patients and register any additional skills acquired as a result of enhanced practice Sexual history taking
Genital examination Family Planning Cervical Cytology 1. Maintain a safe level of nursing staff, taking remedial action and reporting to Matron when this cannot be achieved. 2. Co-ordinate, in conjunction with the Matron, the selection of staff and monitoring of sickness and absence. 3. Co-ordinate the Individual Performance Review of staff within the ward / department. 4. Responsible for the maintenance of the ward / department budgets ensuring ward resources are put to the most efficient and effective use to meet the needs of the patients and the department. 5. Participates in the out of hours senior nurse cover for the Hospital. 6. May act as a deputy for the Matron when requested. 7. Be involved in any quality assurance initiatives within the clinic and ensure that all actions are carried out within the Clinical Directorates overall strategy and statement of purpose. 8. Validate and disseminate any Sexual Health National Targets including the 48 hour access target and the GUM
CAD report. 9. Ensure accurate input into the Sexual Health Computer System, to address any shortfalls and implant changes for example Electronic Patient Records and liaise directly with the supplier of the computer system
