An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Small Works Manager within our team based in Derby. The purpose of the role is to lead and strategically manage the department, supporting the Project Management team in maintaining and developing the capability and coordinating the daily operations of associated works while providing high-level oversight and decision-making. Day to Day responsibilities
- Strategic leadership and management of the engineering resource in relevant areas.
- Key point of contact for senior stakeholders, Project Managers, and the small works teams.
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure the Contract consistently exceeds all relevant KPI & SLA requirements.
- Oversee and improve the system of regular site Supervisory Health and Safety inspections, and car/van inspections on engineers, Logbook audits.
- Manage procurement strategies and relationships with suppliers in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Lead Pre-Start meetings before works with internal teams - Implement and maintain an efficient record-keeping system.
- Manage and resolve critical call outs, providing comprehensive written incident reports and strategic recommendations for remedial works required.
- Develop and implement quality assurance processes for site supervisory visits to ensure consistently high standards of work completion.
- Oversee the annual PAT testing program and implement proactive maintenance strategies for tools and equipment.
- Develop and maintain an efficient system for tracking tools issued/returned/faulty or scrapped to engineers within the team.
- Implement and oversee a robust safety check system for ladders, steps, and other equipment on a 26-week rota to ensure compliance and suitability.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive PPE compliance and condition monitoring system.
- Lead the development and delivery of monthly toolbox talks and ensure widespread awareness of Health and Safety issues throughout the workforce.
- Develop and implement a quality assurance system for auditing sub-contractor works.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
- Develop and implement efficient systems for maintaining cover during holiday periods.
- Oversee and coordinate engineering works as directed by the Project Managers.
- Review and approve quotes produced for Managers across the business.
- Ensure the timely and accurate production of Test and Commissioning Certificates.
- Provide high-level oversight of Project works and implement effective reporting systems.
- Develop and optimize systems for planning weekly labour tasks and updating labour allocations.
- Develop and manage your direct team, by the way of support and direction
- Develop and Manage supply chain to drive best value for money programmes
- Manage Security restrictions and constraints in order to meet the governance on site
- Help and support the onsite CSO programme
- Develop and review H&S packs (RAMS) to ensure they meet the required standards
- Provide support and feedback to senior managers within the team
Advanced qualifications in Building Services or equivalent, such as a degree or higher-level vocational qualification - Comprehensive knowledge of all building services and industry best practices
- Exceptional leadership, administration, and organizational skills
- Extensive practical experience within the electrical, mechanical & civil industry, including management roles
- Proven ability to understand and strategically align with customers' business requirements
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
- Proactive and innovative approach to all aspects of the role
- Track record of implementing and maintaining high standards of workmanship
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams
- Exceptional reliability and accountability
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with senior stakeholders
