Full Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity available for a Senior Social Worker to join our award winning adult social care team at Wokingham Borough Council on a full-time, permanent basis. This role is part of our incredible Preparing for Adulthood team working with young people aged 14 up to 25 to help them transition into Adult Social Care. As a Senior Social Worker, you will play a key role in ensuring that the quality and performance are met by providing guidance, support, supervision, and/or line management to registered and non-registered social care professionals. With a focus on the health, safety, and wellbeing of vulnerable individuals and those who care for them, you will work in accordance with the Care Act 2014 to assess, review, or reassess the complex needs of customers and their carers within the borough. You will also provide advice and guidance as well as access to support services in line with their eligible needs.,

  • To work within the relevant legal frameworks, guidance, policies, and procedures to undertake assessments, reviews and support planning with individuals and their carers, promoting well-being, independence for preparing for adulthood and safety.
  • To enable people to identify their own needs and the outcomes they wish to achieve and to implement and review support plans to meet these needs and to liaise with other professional/agencies as required.
  • To provide guidance, support, Supervision, and/or line management of registered and non-registered Social Care professionals, ensuring that quality and performance are met., Please note that all offers are conditional and subject to the satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks.

  • Good working knowledge of the statutory framework for the relevant care group and of an appropriate range of professional interventions
  • Demonstrable ability to lead, motivate, supervise and performance manage staff
  • Professional degree level Social Work qualification or equivalent
  • Current registration to professional governing body (Social Work England)
  • Full EU driving licence (and access to daily use of a car)
