Full Job Description

The post holder will be recruited on a 24 month secondment and will be employed as a Senior Specialist to Lead and develop the physiotherapy services for patients who have undergone thoracic surgery, providing clinical expertise at a local and regional level.

The post holder will provide clinical assessment and support with the rehabilitation and physiotherapy management of the thoracic surgical patients. Alongside the existing thoracic team, they will contribute to clinical developments and research opportunities to proactively move the thoracic physiotherapy service forward to the benefit of patients and staff within the Trust and at a regional network level.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to lead on the Thoracic Surgery Day 1 discharge programme at South Tees Foundation Trust.

The post holder will be expected to have experience in the field of community physiotherapy and respiratory care, specifically managing post operative surgery patients and medical conditions.

The post holder will be required to have relevant post graduate study, ideally at Masters level, including clinical skills training and ideally completed a non-medical prescribing course. The post holder will be required to demonstrate advanced specialist skills and knowledge in the assessment and treatment of patients with surgical and medical conditions.

The Physiotherapy Service is a well-established large, progressive and dynamic service, which continues to develop within the Trust. The team is friendly and supportive and mentorship for this role will be available from other clinicians, the AHP Service Lead and from the Head of Physiotherapy.

This post offers development in clinical and leadership skills and the post holder will be supported to attend relevant post graduate courses. We have an established and comprehensive training programme and our staff are encouraged and supported in their CPD through workshops, clinical supervision and the appraisal process. There is also an expectation to actively participate in audit and research.
