Full Job Description

This is a challenging, varied and rewarding role; you will work closely with children and families, and be influential in supporting children to reach their full potential.

Day to day you will be conducting assessments, writing reports and running therapy intervention sessions (groups or individual) for a varied population of 0-5 year olds with a range of diagnoses including Speech Sound Disorders, Language and Communication Needs, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Social Communication differences, Down Syndrome.

Our team also works with specialist caseloads for early years and school aged children (aged 0-19) including children with eating and drinking need, children who stammer, children with an acquired brain injury and children with voice disorders.

It may be possible to work with these groups, depending on your experience, competencies, interests and the needs of the service.

Main duties of the job

You will see children within a variety of settings, including nurseries, schools, homes and our childrens clinic.

As part of your role, you may also be involved in:

  • Delivering training to parents, Health Visitors and nursery staff

  • Liaising with Education staff and contributing to EHCPs

    Due to the nature of the role, a valid UK full driving licence and car is essential.

    Children and Family Health Surrey is made up of three partnering organisations; First Community Health and Care (FCHC), CSH Surrey and Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SABP). Together, we provide one Surrey-wide community health service for children and young people from 0 to 19 years of age and their families and carers.

    You will work within a team of therapists and therapy assistants to provide:

  • Assessment and report writing

  • Intervention (individual, pairs, or groups)

  • Provide coaching, advice and support to parents, families and/or education or community based settings

  • Universal, targeted and specialist support and training

    We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced Speech and Language Therapist, with a specialist interest in working with Preschool children, under 5 years of age, and their families, to join our supportive and creative Early Years team.
