Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive, welcoming team. This is a fixed term position (until the end of March 2025) working part time (0.5 WTE)18.75 hours available, for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist, within the Adult Speech and Language Therapy Community Team based in Nottingham city., The service provides home visits, clinics, in-reach to care homes, and runs therapeutic groups including adult dysfluency, post stroke total communication skills, and a Parkinsons voice maintenance group. We also offer intensive rehabilitation programmes where appropriate, and training to care home staff and other professionals.

There are many excellent opportunities for training and development available. We have regular one-to-one supervision, shadowing opportunities, we hold monthly SLT clinical meetings, are involved in SLT Clinical Excellence Networks (such as the East Midlands Progressive Neurology CEN) and offer specialist training in specific clinical interventions including Speak OUT and dysphagia rehabilitation.

Informal visits to the team are also welcomed., We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated speech and language therapist to provide high quality, evidence based, swallowing and communication assessments, rehabilitation and interventions, for adults with acquired disorders (such as dementias, Parkinsons, FND, respiratory needs and a range of other conditions).

We provide evidence-based swallowing and communication assessments, rehabilitation and management options for adults with acquired disorders, living in the Nottingham within a variety of community settings.

We work closely with other community health and social care teams, and the voluntary sector. Our clients present with a wide range of aetiologies including stroke, end of life, dementia, neurological, mental health and respiratory conditions.

The successful applicant will need to be flexible, innovative, organised and keen to learn for the benefit of your clients. You will receive regular supervision and training opportunities and will be supported to develop your skills further.
