Full Job Description

York ward is predominantly open 5 days a week, from Monday - Friday.
We are looking for an experienced cardiology nurse who is knowledgeable, possesses emotional resilience, has a calm temperament, has the ability to work under pressure, demonstrates excellent clinical nursing, has a willingness to learn and develop new skills and who puts patients at the centre of all that they do.
The applicant must have the relevant cardiology knowledge and skill necessary to support the team.
The Directorate will offer development that can be tailored to the successful candidates and includes both leadership and clinical components.
+ Informal discussions welcomed, · The post holder will work closely with the Ward Manager and multi-disciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining excellent clinical standards of nursing practice and staff development as part of the ward team.
· Act as a team leader ensuring the needs of the patients are met.
· To take charge of the clinical areas as required. Which includes Paul Wood ward, York ward and the Squire Day care centre.
· To be responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of all junior staff, with the support of their senior colleagues.
· The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision and is required to demonstrate procedures, supervise qualified and/or unqualified staff whilst maintaining a safe working environment.
· To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover according to level of experience for any area specified.
The post holder will be accountable for their nursing practice, adhere to the policies and protocols of the Trust, and the NMC code, and have responsibility for their own personal & professional development.

Guy's and St Thomas' is among the UK's busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.
In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Our merger provides a once in a generation opportunity to build a lasting, world-renowned heart and lung centre, providing the highest quality care for patients and conducting world-leading research.
