An exciting opportunity is now available for an enthusiastic and experienced Registered Nurse, to join the nursing team permanently on C705 at the Bristol Heart Institute as a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse. The Heart Institute is a tertiary cardiac centre and treats patients from across the south west with complex cardiac conditions. C705 has 30 beds, and also provides care to patients with a range of acute cardiology issues such as ACS, arrhythmias, heart failure, valve disease/TAVI and ACHD. The Ward specialises in the care of a wide variety of acute cardiac conditions. The successful applicant will be joining a supportive nursing team that is committed to delivering high standards of patient care within the current challenging environment., The successful candidate will work in conjunction with an experienced nursing team to provide support and clinical expertise to all staff. They will also be supported in developing their managerial skills and extending their clinical skills and knowledge. Clinical - Communication and Relationship skills

  • Act as a clinical expert providing specialist knowledge and advice to both nurses and junior medical staff working within the unit. Act as a resource to other areas within the Trust as required.
  • Work towards safe and timely discharge plans and ensure barriers to discharge are identified and acted on in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Be proactive in supporting the nursing team and acting as a positive role model always promoting best clinical and professional practice.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills. Be actively involved in recruitment and staff development reviews. Facilitate orientation and training programmes.
  • Act as nurse or ward representative at local and wider meetings.
  • Participate and assist with systematic monitoring of performance and evaluation of nursing practice., welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.     We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced registered nurse with recent experience working within cardiology who wants to progress into leading a team. This is an opportunity to develop your management experience in a dynamic environment.
  • You will need to demonstrate excellent clinical, inter-personal, organisational and management skills with a drive to promote a high standard of care for our patients. You will need to have good motivational skills and the ability to motivate, encourage and develop junior staff.
