Senior Staff Nurse

To provide the highest standard of nursing care for all patients and their families.To be able to plan, assess, implement and evaluate programmes of care for individual patients and supervise other staff in this activity on a daily basis.To ensure a welcoming, caring and safe environment is provided for the patients and their carers/families.

To act as an advocate for the patients and their carers/families, ensuring information and support is available for them to make informed decisions, directing them to relevant services as needed., To develop and maintain clinical skills and knowledge necessary to provide holistic evidence based nursing care.

To be confident in decision making.

To identify and develop expanded roles.

To have an understanding of all drugs used in the unit environment and to undertake relevant drug administration training.

To ensure clinical practice is evidence based and is best practice.

To ensure all patients receive the highest standard of appropriate care.

Be able to liaise effectively and professionally with others in the multidisciplinary team, departments and community services as needed.

To undertake first on call duties at night and weekends.
