Full Job Description

  • We are seeking to recruit a nurse to join the senior team on Gray ward.
  • The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, hard working, & have experience of working on an acute surgical ward.
  • We want a nurse who is kind & compassionate. One who is passionate about maintaining high standards in all aspects of nursing, be it in care-delivery or the cleanliness of the ward.
  • You will, together with the rest of the senior team, be a role model at all times.
  • In return you will be supported to develop your managerial skills by a very experienced senior team.
  • Informal visits are welcomed., Deputise for ward manager in their absence. Take charge of ward regularly and co-ordinate patients and staff.
  • Manage own team of staff and perform appraisals, and other HR duties such as sickness management etc.
  • Main Duties/Key Results Areas:
  • To have responsibility for the Health, Safety and Welfare of self and others and to comply at all times with the requirement of the Health and Safety Regulations.
  • To ensure confidentiality at all times, only releasing confidential information obtained during the course of employment to those acting in an official capacity in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act and its amendments.
  • To work in accordance with the Trust's Equal Opportunities policy to eliminate unlawful discrimination in relation to employment and service delivery.
  • To ensure skills are up-to-date and relevant to the role, to follow relevant Trust policies and professional codes and to maintain registration where this is a requirement of the role.
  • To be trained in and demonstrate fair employment practices, in line with trust policy.

  • To provide leadership, motivating the ward /department team to ensure excellent nursing care, providing support and the supervision of more junior staff.
  • To ensure that all nursing procedures are carried out in accordance with St George's Healthcare NHS Trust policies taking appropriate action in emergency situations.
