Full Job Description

The post holder will work closely with the cath lab manager and multi-disciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining excellent clinical standards of nursing practice and staff development as part of the cath lab team. Also, act as a care team leader ensuring the needs of the patients are met.

Supporting and deputising for the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in the clinical management of the clinical area. This will involve dealing with complex situations and having to take appropriate action in conjunction with the cathlab sister/charge nurse in emergency or unforeseen situations.

To be responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of all staff by acting as a mentor with the support of their senior colleagues., In partnership with other professionals provide excellent patient care. This process should include assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care in accordance with the Trust policies.

Following training and reaching a satisfactory level of competence, will operate medical equipment pertaining to the Cath Lab.

Ensure that nursing documentation is maintained to the Trust standard (including electronic records).

To assist the catheter laboratory Lead nurse / Sister in implementing, evaluating and maintaining a departmental ethos and a standard approach to the delivery of excellent nursing care., The cardiac catheter labs closely interact and liaise with the wards, theatres and ITU to provide a smooth journey for the patient. The team consists of cardiologists, radiographers, nurses, cardiac physiologists, and healthcare assistants.

The team and the work we undertake has expanded considerably in the past few years and we are now in need of some help with our administration.

Harefield Hospital has 4 cath labs with a 3 bay Recovery Unit. Our Primary PCI service holds one of the fastest average door to balloon time in the UK and our service continues to expand. We also undertake a variety of complex procedures including TAVI, EP and Device implantations.
