+ Effective leadership and management skills- being in charge of the department and deputising in Sister's absence. Responsibilities also include liaising with the site and senior leadership teams as well as providing leadership to nursing colleagues on site.
+ Supporting Sister with managerial duties including: writing off duty; ensuring safe daily staffing; appraisals for junior staff members; recruitment; managing staff absence; managing clinical incidents and risks; dealing with and managing patient complaints; assessing various student learners and apprentices; managing the care of acutely unwell patients and facilitating prompt transfer to the necessary acute setting; assisting stock management processes; assisting budget management and cost effectiveness; assisting with management and scheduling of OP clinic timetable and allocation of staff.
+ Sound understanding of an outpatients setting along with an enthusiastic and innovative character to develop this evolving service.

You must have the initiative to adapt to the changing demands of the service and be able to positively contribute to the development of service provision. Ability to cover the department and provide reasonable flexibility in terms of hours worked, including varying shift patterns across operational hours will be expected.
The successful candidate will be required to deputise for the Outpatient Sister in her absence and also provide support.

An exciting role has arisen for a motivated Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse to work as part of the Trauma & Orthopaedic Outpatient Department at Bristol Royal Infirmary. Working Monday- Thursday 08:30-17:30 and Fridays 08;30-14:00. No weekends or nights.
The Outpatient department runs multiple orthopaedic and fracture clinics daily . Our team are passionate about providing high quality patient centred care and positive patient experiences.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated and committed to providing high quality nursing care. You will have an interest in wound care and management of wounds as in the clinic assess and manage post-operative wound, complex wounds and trauma wounds a good understanding of wound care and the different wound care dressings would be advantageous for the role.
You should be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team and possess excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. You will need to be forward thinking, well organised and have a positive attitude towards flexibility and embrace change.
You should have expertise in the required clinical skills relevant for this band 6 post, previous experience working at band 6 level is desirable, but not essential. You should possess effective problem solving skills and are expected to work within your scope of practice adhering to the Code and Trust policies and procedures at all times.
