Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 position on Patience Ward. We are seeking for 2 candidates for a full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week including day and night shifts., Deputise the ward in the absence of the Ward Manager and build successful links between key professionals to support and promote effective multi-disciplinary team working.

Manage the department and nursing staff in the absence of the Ward Manager, ensuring the patients receive high quality patient care and a good patient experience, having regard for their customs, religious beliefs and doctrines.

Be wholly accountable for his/her practice in line with the NMC code of professional conduct and takes every reasonable opportunity to sustain and improve his/her knowledge and professional competence.

Communicate effectively and efficiently and liaise with other members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that patients receive seamless care within the trust.

Act as a professional Senior staff Nurse and role model to the staff. To apply clinical skills of the highest standard and to take a proactive approach to the development of clinical competence in self and others.

Maximize use of clinical resources, implementing best practice in patient flow, admission and discharge arrangements. You will be involved in ward audit and accreditation compliance to be able to review data and be applied in clinical area.

Ensure that the departments have adequate resources/equipment to provide an effective service.

Develop and maintain effective channels of communication between all members of the multi disciplinary team.

We are looking for an experienced renal nurse with excellent knowledge and skills in Nephrology. The role of the Band 6 is integral to the team and therefore strong leadership, communication skills and the ability and willingness to take on new challenges is paramount.

Ideally you should have attain a renal course or equivalent experience, and a standard for student supervision and assessment (Mentorship) and a willingness to develop management and leadership experience.

Patience Ward is a 17 bedded unit mainly caring for Renal patients. It also caters Acute dialysis, peritoneal dialysis and CKD stage 1 to 5.

We provide a variety of in-house study days and workshops to assist you develop your abilities and improve your education.
