The Senior Buyer will be responsible for the following main activities:- · Input into the multi Business Unit Target Purchasing Strategy (TPS). · Identification and implementation of cost saving opportunities within the Supply Chain to meet programme budgets. · Identification, creation and management of supplier Long Term Agreements (LTA). · Management of projects for varying Commodities covering quality, cost, delivery and transfers of work. · Liaison with internal and external departments on behalf of the Purchasing team to ensure a smooth running of the function. This role is within the Commodity team which forms part of the wider Strategic Purchasing team based in Cwmbran of which there are thirty plus team members · Contribution towards the annual direct purchasing spend for SGB programmes of £50-£100M with a savings challenge. · Travel both within the United Kingdom and internationally could be required to carry out activities such as supplier Annual Performance Reviews (APR) and project specific meetings/workshops. · Establishment of multi commodity recurring and non-recurring costs at a Programme level in line with relevant budgets. · Management of Key Suppliers throughout the development phase through to serial production in line with quality, cost and delivery expectations.

· A good understanding of product cost breakdown with the ability to identify areas of concerns and potential savings., Educated to Degree level standard Team Management / Leadership skills Read and understand engineering drawings Demonstrable experience in problem solving techniques Knowledge of Purchasing activity within a manufacturing environment Ability to communicate Essential Able to work on own initiative Ability to establish good working relationships across departments and with supplier representatives Energetic and enthusiastic approach to work Strong team player Computer literate with MS Office Software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), MS Outlook Flexible work approach in order to support the Business needs Resilient and determined No candidate will meet every single desired qualification.
